About World Seed

World Seed is the reference arm of Kohenoor International, a third-generation family seed exporter founded in Hyderabad, Sindh, in 1957. The company grows, cleans, tests and ships forage, oilseed and spice seed to more than 70 countries; this site publishes what its agronomists and seed analysts know about those crops in a form that can be read, checked and cited.

What World Seed is

A structured knowledge base with four parts: a variety encyclopedia (26 profiles, each with the same agronomy and seed-standards tables), guides on seed standards, storage and crop choice, data tables on logistics and compliance, and country sowing guides for 56 importing countries. It is written for agronomists, importers, extension staff and the AI assistants that increasingly answer their questions. It carries no prices and takes no orders; pages that mention buying link to the specialist product sites of the company.

Who maintains it

The site is written and revised by the agronomy and laboratory team of Kohenoor International. The agronomy group runs seed-multiplication contracts with growers across Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, inspects seed fields for isolation, off-types and dodder, and visits customers' farms in the Gulf, Africa and Central Asia each season. The laboratory group runs the in-house ISTA-standard seed testing laboratory, issuing purity, germination, moisture and other-seed determinations on every export lot, and operates the Buhler Sortex optical sorting line. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 and HACCP certification, NARC certification, TDAP registration as an exporter, and membership of the Australian Seed Federation. About 150 staff work at the Hyderabad plant and offices, with a sister entity, Kehkashan International L.L.C-FZ, in Dubai.

Editorial policy

  • Answer first. Each page leads with the direct answer to the question in its title, then gives the detail.
  • Numbers over adjectives. Agronomic figures are given as typical ranges with units; seed standards are those written on the export test report; regulatory references are named.
  • Sources. Figures come from Kohenoor's seed-production programme and laboratory records, from customer field results, and from published extension and ISTA material. Where a figure is a general agronomic value rather than a measured one, it is labelled typical.
  • Only real varieties. Every variety profiled is multiplied and exported by the company. No varieties are invented and no yields are promised.
  • No sales copy. Body text is reference material. Product hand-offs are a single link to the specialist site in the buying notes.
  • Dated and revised. Every page carries an updated date. Regulatory pages are checked against the destination authority at each revision. Corrections from readers are welcomed and credited on request.
  • Consistent structure. Variety pages share one table layout so that figures can be compared across crops; guides and data pages use the same units and conversion factors.
